Account Settings
Everything you can manage from your HeyMotion account page — plan, usage, billing, your remote MCP key, team summary and password reset — plus the settings that are still on the roadmap.
#Overview
Your account settings live on the account page — the same page the My Account button in the Studio's 👤 Account panel opens. It shows your plan, what you've used this month, your billing controls, your remote MCP key and a summary of your team. Password reset works from either the account page or the Studio's sign-in panel. A few things a full settings screen would normally cover — editing a display name, changing your email address, deleting your own account — aren't self-service yet, and this article is explicit about which is which so you're never hunting for a button that doesn't exist.
#What's on your account page
| Section | What it does |
|---|---|
| Plan | Your current plan as a badge, with the limits it grants: exports per month, maximum export resolution, watermark, available formats, image uploads, brand-kit count and MCP access. |
| Usage this month | Exports used against your monthly allowance, with a progress bar, and MCP renders counted separately. Unlimited plans show a running count instead of a limit. The counter resets on the 1st. |
| Manage billing | Paid accounts only. Opens the Stripe billing portal to update your card, download invoices, or change the subscription. |
| Upgrade | Free accounts only. Sends you to Stripe checkout for Founding or Studio, with a link to compare every plan. |
| Developer | Reveals your personal remote MCP key and its connector URL, with Copy URL and Rotate key. Rotating invalidates the old key immediately. Paid plans only. |
| Team & seats | A read-only summary of the team you belong to, its member count and your role. Inviting and removing people happens in the Studio — see Teams and Seats. |
The two numbers on the usage card are metered separately and mean different things; Renders vs Exports explains which is which. For the full billing walkthrough — plan comparisons, upgrading, and what the Stripe portal covers — see Manage Your Subscription.
#Reset a forgotten password
You do not need to contact support to get back into your account.
- Go to the account page, or open the 👤 Account panel in the Studio while signed out.
- Type your email into the email field.
- Click Forgot password?.
- Check your inbox for the reset link and click it. It brings you back to HeyMotion with a Set a new password form.
- Enter the new password twice and save. You're signed in immediately with the new password.
Reset emails are rate-limited. If you request several in a row you'll see an "email limit reached" message — wait an hour, then try again. Reset links are single-use and expire; if you're told the link has expired or was already used, request a fresh one.
Passwords must be at least six characters. There's no separate "change password" control for a password you still remember — use the same Forgot password? flow, which works whether or not you've actually forgotten it.
#What's not self-service yet
The following are not in the app. Don't expect to find controls for them.
- Profile settings — viewing or editing account details such as a display name.
- Change email — moving your account to a different email address.
- Social login — signing in with Google, GitHub, or similar.
- Account deletion — removing your own account and its data from inside the app.
For any of these, email support@heymotion.io — or follow Contact Support — and say what you need. Account deletion and data requests are handled this way by design; the privacy policy at https://heymotion.io/privacy describes the rights involved.
#A note on your data
Because export is 100% in-browser (WebCodecs + a virtual-time clock). Nothing is uploaded to a server to export. the videos you make never touch a server tied to your account. Signing in is required to export — a monthly count has to belong to someone — but only that count leaves your machine, never the file. The only things stored to your account are your brand kit and your saved presets. For a full breakdown of what is and isn't stored, read Privacy and File Processing.
#Common Mistakes
The most common one is emailing support for a password reset — the Forgot password? link handles it in about a minute. The second is clicking a reset link twice: the first click consumes it, so the second reports an expired link even though nothing is wrong with your account. Request a new one and use it once.
