Choose a Template
Browse the nine template categories, understand what each one is for, and pick the graphic you want — your brand applies automatically.
HeyMotion ships with 104 ready-to-animate templates, grouped into nine categories in the left sidebar. Every template is already animated — you pick the one that fits your on-screen moment, then edit the words, numbers, and images. This guide helps you find the right one fast.
#Overview
The template library is the column on the left. Templates are grouped into nine categories, and each category header shows how many templates it holds. Click any template name and it loads instantly into the center stage and starts looping so you can see the motion before you commit.
Whatever you pick inherits your brand colors, fonts, and logo automatically — there is no per-template setup. Set your brand once and the entire library already looks like yours.
#When to Use It
Reach for the library whenever you start a new graphic, or when you want to swap the current clip for a different look. Because previews load instantly, browsing is the fastest way to decide.
#The Nine Categories
Each line below is the quick "what it's for," with real template names as examples:
- Core — the everyday workhorses: Chapter card, TwoTone headline, Big counter, Compare cards, End card.
- Story — narrative beats and reactions: Quote card, Big question, Myth→Fact, Hot take, Versus (A vs B).
- Lists — anything enumerated: Checklist reveal, Numbered list, Pros & cons, Timeline/roadmap, Feature grid (2×3).
- Data — numbers and charts: Stat trio, Bar chart, Donut percentage, Line chart draw, Money counter.
- Tech — code and interface moments: Terminal typing, Code diff, Browser window, Request→Response (API flow), File tree reveal.
- Devices — screens in frames: Device frame (4-in-1: iPhone/iPad/MacBook/iMac), Device trio lineup, Photo card (image), ChatGPT prompt box.
- Subscribe — channel-growth prompts: Subscribe — minimal slide, Subscribe — click burst, Subscribe — corner bug.
- Overlays — green-screen elements you key over footage: Lower-third tag, Name lower-third, Subscribe bar, Arrow callout, Circle highlight.
- Transitions — short cuts between shots: Wipe transition, Zoom punch, Glitch cut, Iris close/open.
Templates in the Overlays category (and a few Core overlays) render on a solid green #00FF00 background so you can chroma-key them over your video in your editor. See Create a Lower-Third for how keying works.
#Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open the studio at https://heymotion.io/app.
- In the left sidebar, scan the category headers to find the kind of graphic you need.
- Click a template name. It loads into the center stage and begins looping.
- Watch the preview. If it isn't right, click another template — switching is instant.
- When you're happy, move to the right-hand edit panel to customize it.
#What's Not Here Yet
There is no template search box, no favorites, and no per-template thumbnails yet — you browse the list by name. All three are planned. For now, the categories keep the library short enough to scan quickly.
#Best Practices
Match the template to the beat, not the other way around: a single stat wants Big counter, a three-item comparison wants Compare cards, and a name tag over talking-head footage wants a Lower-third tag. Set your brand before you go deep so every preview reflects your real colors.
