Import Your Brand from a Style Guide

If your company already has a brand style guide, you don't need to copy colors and fonts into HeyMotion by hand. Upload the guide and HeyMotion reads it with AI, pulls out the palette and typography, and turns them into a new brand kit named after the guide — look it over in the live preview, and every template wears that brand.

#Overview

Open the Brand workspace (the Brand settings button in the edit panel) and click Import style guide in the workspace header. Pick your guide file, and after a few seconds HeyMotion fills the workspace with what it found — the brand colors mapped to each role (background, text, accent, and so on), the closest matching fonts from the HeyMotion font library, and a note about anything it had to infer.

The import lands in a kit of its own, not on top of the kit you were in. Someone importing a client's brand book almost never means "overwrite my own brand", so HeyMotion creates a new kit — named after the guide, or after the file if the guide doesn't name itself — switches you into it, and leaves your other kits exactly as they were. If you don't want it, delete the new kit; the picker at the top of the workspace takes you back to any other kit at any time. See Manage Multiple Brand Kits.

An import needs a free slot in your plan's brand-kit allowance (Free, Founding and Creator 1; Studio 5; Agency 10). If they're all in use, HeyMotion says so — delete a kit you no longer need, or upgrade.

#Supported Files

Keep files under about 6MB. Signed-in accounts get a daily allowance of imports.

#What Gets Extracted

The import fills the same seven color roles and three font slots you'd set by hand:

• Colors — background, cards/surfaces, text, muted text, accent (your primary brand color), highlight (your secondary color), and borders. Every value comes from the guide itself; if a role isn't specified, HeyMotion derives it from the guide's palette and tells you so in the notes.
• Fonts — your display, UI/body, and mono faces, matched to the closest fonts in HeyMotion's library. If your exact font is available (say, Inter or Space Grotesk), it's used as-is; otherwise the nearest match is chosen and flagged.

Your logo isn't imported from the guide — upload your logo image separately in the Brand workspace.

#Step-by-Step

1. Sign in, then click Brand settings in the edit panel on the right.
2. Click Import style guide in the workspace header and choose your file.
3. Wait a few seconds while the guide is read.
4. Read the summary — the name of the new kit, what was found, and anything HeyMotion had to infer.
5. Look the imported colors and fonts over in the tabs and the live preview, adjust anything by hand, and press Save brand to keep your changes.

#Good to Know

The new kit starts as a copy of the one you were in, with the guide's colors and fonts written over the top — so everything the guide doesn't mention (your logos, shape, layout, motion, and any locks or restrictions you've set) carries across rather than resetting to defaults. Upload a new logo in the workspace if the client's differs. Saved creations that carry their own per-card styling keep it; everything else re-skins to whichever kit is active. If the result isn't quite right, adjust any single value by hand, re-import a different file into another kit, or use Reset everything on the Quick tab to take this kit back to the HeyMotion defaults.

#Common Mistakes

Uploading a document that isn't really a style guide (a pitch deck, an invoice) — if there are no colors or fonts to find, HeyMotion says so rather than guessing. And remember the fonts come from HeyMotion's library: a proprietary corporate font will be matched to its closest available equivalent, which the notes will call out.
